Puppies

(6 Weeks)

Start your puppy off like the pros do with this unique class for pups aged 4 to 12 months! We safely introduce your pup to agility-related training "on the flat" long before he is mature enough for "formal training" on full height equipment. We'll build body awareness, confidence on moving surfaces, attention, focus, teamwork and basic agility commands and directionals.

Prereuisites: Puppies must have completed a puppy obedience class or have equivalent skills. For basic dog training, please contact Mark Ruark, Pets, Inc. at 926-8768.

Introduction to Agility

(6 Weeks)

For all non-aggressive dogs at least 10 months of age with on leash control. This course provides dogs and handlers a safe introduction to all of the agility equipment used in competition. This foundation will prepare teams to continue enjoying recreational agility or competition agility.

Prerequisites: dog must demonstrate attention to the handler and be in good health. This training program is not designed for puppies and we recommend that the dog be at least one year old before starting an agility program. For basic dog training, please contact Mark Ruark, Pets, Inc. at 926-8768.

Intermediate Agility

(6 Weeks)

The objective of this class is to instill confidence and a sense of fun in performing agility obstacles in short sequences. It places a fundamental emphasis on the handler keeping the dog's attention at all times. While sequencing is important, the design of this instruction asks for the dog's attention first, pushing forward only when the dog is giving that attention.

Prerequisites: Registration in Intermediate Agility requires completion of Beginning Agility. A skills test may be required for dogs who have not completed Beginning Agility.

Advanced Agility

(6 Weeks)

The objective of this course is to improve the working relationship between dog and handler and to prepare the agility team for competition. This program places a fundamental emphasis on the handler keeping the dog's attention, and on improving the handler's skills in this sport.
Prerequisites: Registration in Advanced Agility requires completion of Intermediate Agility. A skills test may be required for dogs who have not completed Intermediate Agility.

Competition

Private lessons can be arranged.

  •   Weather appropriate clothes for you

Acquiring the skills to be successful at agility requires a commitment--not only to class attendance and participation, but to lots of practice! If you are unable to make the minimum commitment to attend classes on a weekly basis, agility is probably not for you. While I make every effort to accommodate your schedule, it is your responsibility to make up any missed classes. It is not fair to students who attend regularly scheduled classes to wait for other students to play catch up! I am able to offer for free one "make up" session. If you miss more than one class and would like to continue with the class, additional make up sessions will be required and charged at the private session rate of $40. Please consider this when deciding to enroll in a class.
